Our Story

More than 25 years ago, Kathy McCabe opened her first small business: a cottage industry run out of her home selling dried florals. Simultaneously running the company while raising a young family taught her early on the challenges and skills necessary to grow a successful company.

As the business grew, she became recognized not only for florals but her overall home design.

Following what felt like a natural transition, Kathy established a professional interior design company. An adjoining home furnishings retail store soon followed.

Today, Kathy leads KBM Designs Interiors, a group of talented designers creating beautiful and functional homes, tailored to the individual needs and personalities of each client.

She is also the owner and merchandising visionary behind My Favorite Room. Here, Kathy showcases her own personal and authentic designs–an instinctual blending of new merchandise, antique hand-crafted objects and furnishings, and items harvested from nature.

It is this blending of old with new to develop unique, one-of-a-kind spaces that inspires Kathy, and what she believes brings soul and life into every room.

In addition to mixing past and present styles, materials, and finishes, Kathy loves to create spaces that calm and soothe the senses. She typically uses serene and calming color palettes, similar to those found in nature, or created by the wear and tear of human hands and the natural elements. Her desire is to achieve the same sense of rest and rejuvenation that comes from spending time in the outdoors.
